The Local Plan
|
|
The City of Lincoln Local Plan was published in 1998 and describes the Council's vision for how Lincoln would grow and change in order to overcome problems and make the most of the opportunities for improvement. It covers the period 1996 to 2011. To achieve this vision it sets out policies that will be used to decide whether or not a planning application will be given permission. |
The Local Plan is in two parts:
The Local Plan was published nearly 10 years ago, and the planning system has changed and moved on considerably since then. So, in 2007 the policies that were no longer relevant or that had been superseded or duplicated by national and regional policies were deleted. The status of the Local Plan policies is outlined in the "Status of Local Plan Policies" document which can be downloaded below or from the quick download menu on the right of the screen.
The Written Statement contains the policies and proposals, and their justification. It also contains a section on how the Plan will be implemented, monitored and reviewed.
A number of Supplementary Planning Documents (SPD) was also published alongside the Written Statement. Many of these are now out of date. Only the Green Design Guide and the Planning Advice Note on Affordable Housing are relevant.

Review of the City of Lincoln Council Local Plan
A review of the Local Plan started in 2002 with the publication of the 'Our City, Our Future' Issues Paper. However, the Council decided to move directly to the preparation of a Local Development Framework (LDF) for Lincoln following changes to the planning system. The LDF will eventually replace the Local Plan.
Further information on progress made to date on the LDF for Lincoln can be found by going to the How We’re Planning Lincoln’s Future – The LDF pages of this website by clicking here.
